Wednesday 27^th and first call is for a new aerial installation Leigh-On-Sea Essex.  When we arrived I was delighted to see a fabulous roof layout with easy access to all areas of the roof.  The bungalow had 3 chimney stacks to choose from so I chose the one nearest to the TV point for 2 reasons; one was a shorter cable run from the aerial and the other was the other stacks were not as substantial as the one I chose, being short, wide and stronger.

A landlord called me and told me his tenants aerials was hanging off the wall and could I get there and have a look.  When we arrived I saw a Unix 52 element dangling off of a ¾ alloy mast with a budget 6” wall bracket.  All the mungos and bolts had left the gable end and the aerial cable was preventing the aerial from falling to the ground.

Our 2^nd call Thursday 26^th March, on an extremely cold day (where has spring gone?)  A new aerial installation Harlow Essex.  When we arrive it was extremely cold a polar bear and some penguins were enjoying the snow on the ground and were not bothered by the cold!  I was further delighted to see the roof was slate and the icing on the cake was the ornate ridge tiles which look lovely but make getting on the roof and staying up there challenging!

1^st call Saturday morning, a new TV aerial installation Clacton-On-Sea, we arrived early which is ok with us but not always welcomed with our customers, epically on a Saturday morning.

Saturday afternoon 16^th March 2013 and were off to Brentwood Essex for what we thought was a satellite L.N.B upgrade and an aerial alignment.

If only all jobs could go like this one.  We arrived on time as arranged and for the 1^st time in a long time the sun actually shined a little.  I chatted to my customer and they wanted Anglia new if possible.  We agreed a price and I trotted back to my van for my ladders.

Although there wasn’t a cloud in the lovely blue sky, I still needed to put my gloves on before touching my ice cold ladders, I can’t wait summer!  I carried my ladders around to the rear of the property and extended them to the roof line.  Back to the van again to get a large chimney cradle and lashing kit for the stack.

The roof was a dream to walk up, no roof climber required, gentle incline perfect.  The chimney stack was nice too, although there wasn’t a lot of room to accommodate our new aerial as the stack was over crowded with aerials from other flats.  After fitting the large chimney cradle I fitted the large U’ bolts read for aerial I hadn’t yet put together.

After looking at the surrounding aerials while lashing the stack I decided to put together a Blake DMX5 w/b aerial as I couldn’t see any issues with signal.  I love my Blakes and know they will last for years and years to come.  I put the Blake on a 8ft  1” ½ alloy mast, heavy duty pay dividends as I know it will still be there for years, you only pay for what you get in this day and age so let’s have the good stuff.

Aligning the Blake to Anglia I was extremely pleased with the 50db of signal on all 6 mux’s and knew my customer would be delighted as they asked for Anglia.  I cut up a lashing wire and pinned the down cable to the roof to prevent it moving and keeping a nice straight line down the roof line.  I cabled it in white as the flat had a nice white PVC facia and couldn’t see any other route of getting the aerial cable into the sitting room, so white was perfect as you can see in the picture.  (The other dangling cable not mine was to the flat beneath.)

Inside now fitting a nice grommet in the wall where the aerial cable came in, I fitted a coax plug and connected it to the TV.  I tuned the Panasonic TV and the signal strength & quality on the display as the TV was tuning was 10 perfect!   I presented my bill and set off for my next call at Billericay.

Saturday morning and first call New Aerial Installation Loughton Essex, we arrive and surveyed the property for fixings and running the new aerial cable to the front sitting room.  Our customer as always was lovely and quickly provided up with a nice cup of tea.  With the house being on 3 floors we had the height for great signal, so we decided to fix a Blake DMX5 w/b aerial only question was on which fixing.

We used a 12” wall bracket as there was not enough wall space for a pair of T&K wall brackets, fixed firmly with large coach bolts and nylon mungos we achieved an extremely strong fixing.  We put the Blake on an eight foot alloy mast and used large U bolts to connect the mast to the wall bracket.  The Blake once aligned brought in a lovely signal measuring 55db on the spectrum analyser.

We cut up a lashing wire to secure the aerial coax cable to the roof to keep it neat and secure then across towards the drainpipe where we could secure the cable with cable ties to the drainpipe.  We love to use drainpipes where possible as you can’t see the cable run, there’s nothing worse than a building littered with cables purely because the engineer can’t be bothered to run them right.

Once on the ground we were able to lose the aerial cable under the bark chipping and around the gas meter until it climbed up with the BT phone cables so we were impressed with the cable route from start to finish.  I drilled the hole through the wall inside out in the bottom corner behind the TV system and was pleased with the cable entering the house as I was with route into the house.

After fitting a nice decretive grommet in the hole in the wall which just finishes off the cable run making it look that bit better, I fitted the aerial coax plug and tested the signal once again just to check the cable and connections were as they should be, which they were.  I then set up and tuned the lovely Samsung TV and checked the all the channels were there which they were, and wrote my bill and set off to our 2^nd call.
