I received a call this week for an extra point from a customer who originally called me last year for a New aerial installation Upminster Essex. I was delighted to see my customers again and quickly realised I had not photographed or blogged on such a fantastic installation!

My customers wanted a superior quality aerial and did not want to worry about the fixing and know the aerial would be there year after year. So I thought Blake DMX10, double lashing and an eight foot 2” alloy mast combined with 2 heavy duty 13” chimney brackets taking up 10 brick courses should be bomb proof!

I took great pride in assembling the Blake DMX10 w/b aerial which for me has proven itself over the years both with signal gain, strength, format and above all with stand the abuse birds will give it, I just love putting them up and taking the time to do it right. OCD yes I have to have the tape around the pole just so, and keep the mast straight, why would you put one up any other way?

Fortunately for me there was a lovely flat roof area and I was able to lash the chimney stack comfortably not having to hang on to stop myself falling, and as you can see in the picture it looks square and centrical swish!

With the chimney lashed and the aerial up I ran the aerial coax cable into the loft and fitted a four way splitter, I chose a Fringe outdoor 4 which is a superior splitter in my eyes and has a fantastic housing giving 100% waterproof guarantee, and has a loss of 7.5db on each leg which is just perfect as the Blake was drawing in just a little too much, due to the distance from Upminster to Crystal Palace transmitter.

Although the Fringe outdoor4 could have been easily fitted outside on the aerial mast I wanted to go the extra mile and put it inside in the loft keeping the appearance of my customer’s lovely house cable free. I ran an extra cable to a point in the conservatory and as you can see, you cannot see any cabling just the way we like it.

Happy customers are always our aim and 99.9% of the time we achieve it. I must state I am very lucky as 99% of our customers are lovely people who I enjoy meeting and chatting to and enjoy working for immensely. I further have to say these customers (Tom & Iris) were just fantastic! Not only did they look after me when I originally installed their aerial system, they allowed me to photograph my work for my blog on my website and remembering how kind they both were to me at the time of the installation, I wanted to reflect my gratitude on my return for an extra point with a discount for my work, but the insisted on giving me a tip which they didn’t have to do but was appreciated enormously, Thanks Guys.
