             We were called last week by a contractor who required a new TV aerial installation Chelmsford Essex, only fitting a TV aerial to a flat roof without fixings. Other TV aerial company’s had quoted for the work but did not have any solutions for the installation, only offering penetrative fixings to the side of the new building, which was not acceptable to our customer. I ordered a tripod ground mount which could easily be transported up the narrow roof access enclosed ladder, and through the roof access hatch. We took some signal test reading using our test aerial and spectrum analyser. The signal was good, balanced and our log-periodic aerial would be perfect, as we did not wish to use a large aerial with deflector plates, which would catch the wind more. The log being streamlined and incredibly light was the perfect choice for our new TV aerial installation Chelmsford, as well as being discreet and soft on the eye. We drilled three engineering breezeblocks, and fitted the nylon mungos one the ground ready to take up to the roof where we was to assemble the tripod flat roof aerial mount, which pieced together easily. Carrying the heavy breezeblocks one at a time to the roof we soon had the tripod mount ready to receive our new TV aerial.

We electronically aligned the Fracarro log-periodic aerial to Crystal Palace London using our spectrum analyser, this signal was the best choice, at good signal strength, quality and all digital mux’s were nice and square, just how we like them. We fitted a masthead pre amp, to ensure a fantastic signal arrived at the ground perfectly, with just a little kick before entering the distribution amplifier. Once on the ground floor we identified the aerial feed cable from the other aerial cables, and tested it to confirm the signal was still of good quality, which it was. We found our customer’s other cables and terminated them with F’ plugs ready for fitting to the distribution amplifier. We secured the distribution amplifier to the wall of our customer’s plant room as requested, and connected the aerial feed to the distribution amplifier so we could test the output of the amp, to ensure the output to the TV sockets was perfect, which it was. We started clearing away our tools and waste and headed to our van for our next call of the day which was another New TV Aerial installation Chelmsford, not too far to travel!

Not wrote many blogs recently due to not having any spare time.  We completed a job yesterday and looking at it we both thought we should take a couple of pictures and put it up with all our other proud work. Our customer originally called us for a new TV aerial Chelmsford, with a D.A.B aerial and d Sky satellite dish, when we arrived there was an aerial already in place but not receiving a good quality signal.  The original aerial engineer had nicely lashed the chimney stack and used an awesome 18” chimney cradle….  But lashed it at the front of the chimney stack putting the inferior TV aerial over the path and not the roof, hence bird poo all over our customer’s path.  As we were putting a Sky satellite dish on the stack as well we thought we would use the extra-large chimney cradle, but move it to the back of the chimney stack where if should have been fitted to start with.

We took some signal readings with our test aerial and we were happy using our famous Fracarro log-periodic w/b aerial on an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast.  The signal was to be Anglia Sudbury as the London signal was not very clever, but as our customer was having Sky too they could have London news on their Sky box and Anglia on the Free-View side, effectively our customers could choose which news they wanted to watch.  With the new TV aerial Chelmsford now up and running we attached the single element D.A.B aerial for our customer’s D.A.B radio and ran the ct100 high grade coax cable to the sitting room and connected it the their radio, which of course was perfect!

We needed to mount the Sky satellite dish high as the garage roof would have shaded 40% of the dishes signal, which we don’t do.  Even now I laugh at some of the satellite dish installation I see, and wonder if the engineer was just lazy or did not understand signals too well, any-who I didn’t want to mount the mini dish too high up our mast as it would not be as stable as I like, so we decided to lash our customer’s chimney once again ( avoiding drilling unnecessary holes in our customer’s stack) this time on the very top course using an 8” chimney cradle and a very small 1” ½ alloy mast to attach the dish to.  We cleared the garaged roof and achieved a perfect satellite signal.  All we need to do now was surreptitiously run the twin satellite cable to our customer’s sitting room.  We used a drainpipe to discreetly reach the floor then a short distance along the brickwork to the sitting room, where we terminated our cable and fitted the baby f’ plugs.  As always our customer was delighted with our efforts and immensely happy with their picture quality.  I took some pictures for this blog as I wonder why not all engineers work is as outstanding as ours?

With all this hot weather we as TV aerial engineers have been enjoying the baking hot roofs and of course the lovely lofts of our customer’s which at mid-day double up to be a sauna!  You don’t have to be up there for more than a minute and you soon sweat out a litre or two, instantly losing a couple of pounds.  As a TV aerial engineer Essex I always try to keep out of lofts as much as possible and in the extreme heat install the TV aerial system by the loft hatch where there can be a draft.  Last month July I was running some cables in one of our customer’s loft and I was getting wasps flying around my head and a few going down my shirt, which isn’t nice when you’re sitting by the loft hatch with your legs dangling down and you really don’t want to be jumping around.  There was no loft light just my head torch and I didn’t really take too much notice of the loft as I had the cables I was looking for, picture my face when I started looking for the bees/ wasps nest when I was getting mobbed by curious wasps!  I had to take a picture as the nest was massive and a complete work of art.  The nest was built on the gable end of the property and the wasps were flying in and out at the outside but there were plenty flying around the inside of the loft much to my annoyance.

I was lucky it was mid-day (sauna temp in a loft) and most of the wasps were out doing the wasp duties, and not at home looking at me as an intruder.  I looked at the humongous nest and admired its intricacy and couldn’t help but admire their building skills as it was a work of art.  Only downside was wasp’s sting and nobody wants them living in their loft space.  I showed the pictures I had taken of the nest to my customer who very quickly said I will get that dealt with.  I had connected my cables and completed my work.  I closed the loft hatch and packed away, another morning completed as a TV aerial engineer Essex

With all this lovely hot weather we are still working in lofts, which is just delightful!  Our first job Monday was a new TV aerial Billericay Essex and we were delighted to see such a big loft.  We took up our loft steps along with a test aerial and our spectrum analyser to take some signal reading, to see if we could put our customer’s new TV aerial in their loft, and surprisingly it could so we set about getting the new TV aerial permanently fixed. After a little thought we decided to use a satellite zone 2 dish bracket and mast as the bracket can be squeezed together, making the fixing holes narrower to accommodate the loft beams where we ideally wanted to secure our Fracarro log-periodic aerial.  One of the massive advantages of the Fracarro log-periodic aerials in lofts are: as there are no back plates / deflectors you can mount the log high without the deflectors catching the roof pitch allowing you to mount the aerial higher, as well as being a fantastic performing aerial it’s neat and discreet.

Our customer wanted 2 TV points wiring in so once we had the aerial electronically aligned and had our Signal readings we ran the aerial cable approximately 1mtr away from the aerial and fitted a 2way masthead pre-amp with a variable gain from 10DB to 25DB.  Using the spectrum analyser we turned down the output of the variable gain masthead until we received the perfect signal with minimum noise.  A new TV Aerial Billericay Essex installed by Andy’s Aerials has to have the I’s dotted and the T’s crossed!  We extended our customer’s TV coax cables neatly around the loft, stapling them out the way where no one could tread on them and up one of the lofts beams to the masthead.  We connected the aerial coax cables to the masthead and went down stairs to test our customer’s outlets with our spectrum analyser, checking our customer’s cables and face sockets, as we know face sockets can be a major issue.  The signal received at the out lets were perfect, we went to our van and grabbed 2 new pre-made white fly-leads and connected them to our customer’s TV’s.  A quick re-tune bingo perfect pictures and happy customers!  We wrote our bill and packed away, our next call was not far away as it was another new TV aerial Billericay Essex.

   Yet another scorching day and our customer has phoned and asked us for a new TV aerial, we were told they live at the top of a 4 story building and height was an issue.  We were as always happy to drive over and take a look.  It couldn’t have been hotter!  The roof tiles were scolding hot burnt our hands and our feet were most uncomfortable on the roof.  We took up our test aerial as we always do and took some signal readings for both signal quality and signal strength.  The digital signal was absolutely screaming in and we knew we would have to attenuate the signal, as too much signal is as bad as too little.  I couldn’t help but think why the building was littered with TV aerials and wondered why the building didn’t just have one?  My little log could happily provide a perfect digital signal to all rooms and floors of the building.  With the signal being so strong, I also wondered why all the other TV aerials had been fitted on 6ft masts?  I Decided to use an off cut in the back of my van which was a 1ft 2” alloy mast cut off (waste not want not), and thought keeping my aerial low would be discreet and not be the one hit by lightning!  It’s nice sometimes to be the odd one out, every other digital TV aerial on the building was wrong in my eyes, so I fitted our customer’s new digital TV aerial nice and low at least showing how an aerial installation should look.  We used a 13” heavy duty 5 brick course chimney cradle to support the 1ft 2” mast with our Fracarro log-periodic w/b aerial, and if you can find time to look at the pictures you will hopefully agree it looks neat.

With the new digital TV aerial now electronically aligned with our spectrum analyser we started running our customer’s coax cable to their sitting room.  Once tacked down and entering our customer’s sitting room we once again plugged in our meter to take another reading to install the correct attenuator to ensure our customer’s equipment was not getting overloaded with our signal.  We re-tuned their YouView receiver and TV and started packing away.  Our ladders were fully extended and needed to lowered and put back on the roof of the van. We had a walk around to ensure we hadn’t left any rubbish, tape, cable ties etc. and then wrote our bill and headed back to the ice-cold van for a rewarding blast of cold air!  Call me direct for your New Digital TV Aerial 07916 305 977  Andy

This week we were called out to a village outside Chelmsford as our customer was not receiving all the digital free-view channels, when we arrived we quickly spotted our customer had an out of date B’ Group aerial pointing towards Sudbury Anglia, which we knew would not receive all the digital mux’s due to the Anglia transmitter changed from a B’ Group to a wideband with the digital switchover.  Our call for a replacement TV aerial Chelmsford was 100% needed.  Our customer’s beautiful cottage was thatched and had a chimney stack in the middle, before I knocked the door I wondered why their 10element Yargi was fitted to the gable end above the bedroom, in view from the garden and allowing the birds to poo over the patio.  I knew we at www.andysaerials.com could do a whole lot better for our customer.

We chatted to our customers and listened to their needs, their existing aerial was fed into the main bedroom and then through the floor to the ceiling of the sitting room.  Our customer’s wanted their replacement TV aerial Chelmsford to kept the same way so if in future they required a TV point in the bedroom they could.  I slightly changed the configuration making the installation invisible, neat and more permanent by stapling down the new coax cable to the desired point of the room keeping the white aerial coax lead out of sight.  I enquired if I could attach the new replacement aerial on the chimney stack and our customer’s was not too sure about the support of their chimney stack so I took my customer’s to my van and showed them an extra-large 18” chimney cradle which takes up 7/8 brick courses guaranteeing an outstanding support for the new replacement TV aerial.  Once our customer had seen the extra-large chimney cradle they were more than happy to have their new aerial fitted to the chimney stack.

We were originally called by our customer who wanted a YouView aerial installation quote for their property in Chelmsford Essex, when we arrived we chatted and conducted a site survey for the best location to install the new aerial.  Our customer wanted to have a Free-Sat dish installed also, so we looked to the gable end of their property which would be ideal for both the aerial and the satellite dish, which needed to be facing south.  We had access issues with our ladders as our customer’s gable end was not completely accessible but we could safely get to the back corner of the wall and get a good strong fixing.  We took some test reading to ensure we were able to get a good quality signal for our customer’s YouView, and we were soon to be happy with the readings from our spectrum analyser. Knowing we would also attach a zone1 mini dish we decided to use 2 12” x 12” wall brackets offering outstanding support for the YouView aerial installation and the Free-Sat dish.

We were luckily enough to be called out to the White Hart Inn Little Waltham Chelmsford, to install a new TV aerial, when we arrived we were greeted by friendly faces and provide us with HOT drinks instantly.  We looked at where the TV was situated and looked at running a new TV aerial coax lead to the TV.  We decided to install the TV aerial on the front stack as it was a nice square solid chimney stack, with easy access for us.  We decided to lash the stack, and use an extra-large heavy duty 18” chimney cradle, to support the aerial & mast, spreading the load of the aerial mast across 6 brick courses of the chimney stack, making the installation incredibly strong for years and years to come.  We took some test reading for signal quality & signal strength and we decided to use an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast for height and a Fracarro log-period w/b aerial which is of course our favourite TV aerial of choice.  The signal was good but I would have liked a few dB more, if you look at the picture of the TV aerial I have left a loop in the aerial coax cable for a masthead pre-amp or ready to receive a 2/4 or 6way masthead for future points.  I did not want to sell my customers a masthead unnecessary, but left the loop in the coax cable so it could be added easily at a future date if need be.

We fixed the Fracarro log-periodic w/b aerial to the aerial mast and neatly taped it down to the bottom (appearance is everything!) and took it up to the chimney and electronically aligned the aerial, squeezing every DB possible.  We used the remainder of the lashing wire to pin the aerial coax cable down the roof keeping it neat, straight and secure preventing it moving causing damage to the cable. Once we had the cable down to the guttering we used the down pipe to transport the cable to the floor without being seen, and then we only had a few inches to go across the brickwork to our entry point.  Once inside we ran our cable to the TV and fitted a coax plug and connected it to the TV.  We re-tuned our customer’s TV and admired the pictures.

The food in the restaurant looked so good we ordered some, and sat down and enjoyed every mouthful!  We can defiantly recommend the food there it was fantastic!

We packed away our kit and loaded our ladders on the van and left well fed Thank You.

We were called and asked if we could fit a new satellite dish to static caravan, which was being used as temporary accommodation while project managing another building, and why not have the little luxuries such as Sky TV?  When we arrived we looked for south with our compass and we were horrified to see the conifer hedge and house behind obstructing getting a clear line of site from our new satellite dish installation.  We assembled a zone 1 sky mini dish and temporary fitted it to an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast to see if we could get a satellite signal and when I raised the 8ft mast our meter bleeped, indicating we had a lock on the satellite. We took the zone 1 mini dish off of the 8ft mast and attached it to a 12ft 2”mast giving us a further 4ft of height, which we knew was needed to get the satellite dish aligned.  Sure enough we once aging locked our dish on the satellite and now needed to secure the mast to support the new satellite dish.

With the 12ft aluminium mast having a 2” diameter we decided we could use the corner of the wooded stairs up to the front door, it would not be in the way there, reasonably secure and we would be able to run the new satellite dish cable in to the sitting room, and to the TV without a problem and not creating any trip hazards.  We braced the stair hand rail with angle iron, giving the satellite dish further support and used an assortment of cable ties to pull the satellite and mast tight into the corner of the stairs; although the dish would only be temporary we wanted to ensure our customer would receive a good satellite signal for the duration of their stay.

We had trouble adjusting the vertical alignment of the satellite dish but persistence always pays, we were very happy with the readings of the satellite meter and locked off the satellite dish and started neatly taping the satellite twin cable down the 12ft mast.  We were able to cable under the stairs and under the static caravan to where the TV and satellite receiver we located, as the twin satellite cable was coming up from under the static caravan through the floor we had no worries of water issues from the cable.  We connected our dish to our customer’s satellite receiver and checked the signal using the receiver’s signal strength menu, both strength and quality of the new satellite dish was fantastic.  As always happy customers of www.andysaerials.com.

At long last the sun and hot weather is with us, on Tuesday we had a new TV aerial install along with a Sky dish installation, to a newly built house.  All part of being a TV aerial installer Essex.  When we arrived we chatted to our customer’s and listened to their needs, and gave some options and prices.  We noticed upon arrival our customer’s house had a false chimney stack, it looked real but was made of fiberglass, so we could not use it, luckily our customer’s house was detached and had a incredibly high gable end wall, which we suggested fixing the new TV aerials and satellite dish to, which our customer was happy for us to do.  We fetched our large set of ladders from the van and set them up at the top of our customer’s gable end wall.  We used a small pair of T&K wall brackets as they provide outstanding support for the new TV aerial and satellite dish, a great choice of any TV aerial installer Essex.
