Saturday afternoon and our last call is a new TV aerial installation Upminster Essex, I had spoken to my customer by telephone in the week, they were specific with their requirements, which we just love as customers, who have completed their own research and know what they want are fantastic.  When we arrived we disused with our customers which one of their chimney stack they wanted us to use for their TV aerial installation, after agreeing a price we took our ladders off of our van and set them up at the front of the property, ready to access the roof.  We took up a heavy duty large 5 brick course chimney cradle and a lashing kit to go around the chimney stack.  Once we had lashed the chimney stack we went back down and fitted a Fracarro w/b log-periodic on an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast and measured the cable length the length of our customer’s house ensuring they had plenty of coax cable.  We attached a 10 element w/b aerial vertically to the aerial mast with the deflectors removed for D.A.B radio.New Tv Aerial Installation Upminster Essex Www.andysaerials.com

Our 2nd call today is for a new aerial installation Chelmsford Essex and when we arrived we were delighted to see a lovely walk able roof on a bungalow.  There were 2 chimney stacks to choose from, one was straighter than the other as it looked perpendicular to me?  Although the property was a bungalow we did not wish to use 16ft 2” masts to achieve good signal strength, we don’t like to look of any property with such huge masts, and we always try to get a good base signal with an 8ft 1” ½ and if the signal is workable use the correct amplification.  As luck would have it when we took some signal readings with our test aerial we were happy with the results and proceeded to lash our customer’s chimney stack with one of our large heavy duty chimney cradles which will provide more than enough support for our log—periodic on an 8ft 1” ½ alloy masts.

At last a break in the rain and a blue sky shining down.  We had a new aerial installation Chelmsford Essex and we were both delighted to see the blue sky, although this new aerial installation was a little challenging as the roof was covered with solar panels, making access to the chimney stack difficult.  Before we made a plan on how to get to the chimney stack we made up a test aerials and took some signal readings so we knew if we could achieve good quality pictures for our customers.  We were happy with the readings from our test aerial and our spectrum analyser indicated a Fracarro Log-periodic would be perfect for the job with a little amplification, and as we were fitting 4 new TV points the amp was needed any-who.  We managed to set up our ladders at the front of the house, there was a small 2ft wide section of roof where the solar panels did not fix or cover the roof, we now had a route to our customer’s chimney stack.  We had to be incredible carful cutting the old aerial lashing wire, not only worrying about the cars parked beneath we had to avoid the glass of the roof solar panels.  We managed to cut the old aerial down and get it to the floor trouble free and now we could set about re-lashing our customer’s chimney stack and fitting the new aerial furniture required for the new aerial installation.

As we see so many poor substandard new aerial installations where possible we like to use heavy duty fixings so we went to our van and fetched a large heavy duty 5 chimney brick course cradle to support our 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast.  We electronically aligned our aerial using our proven and trusted spectrum analyser and wanting to keep the new aerial installation neat and tidy we ran the aerial coax cable into our customer’s loft where we could fit the 4 way amp.  We quickly ran a new cable down to our customer’s sitting room and had their YouView box re-tuned and set-up in no time.  All we had to do was run 3 new cables to the bedrooms and re-tune the TV’s, which we did and we were both happy with the signal readings upon checking each TV point.  Our customer was as always over the moon and we started to clear up and dispose of the rubbish the new aerial installation generated.  We wrote our bill and head off to our next new aerial installation.

Saturday morning and were off to a new TV aerial installation in Essex, and yet again another large house with an incredibly difficult roof to gain access to.  After looking at all our options we decided to extend our triple ladders and rest them on the chimney stack giving us a better chance of getting around to the chimney.  My customer’s aerial had come down in the recent high winds and storms, it had not been fitted very well and the wrong equipment was used on the installation.  We decided to cut down one of our 12ft 2” alloy masts to 6 or 7ft as we did not need the height as the house was 3 stories, but wanted the extra support and strength of the 2” alloy mast. Using a large chimney cradle which uses 5 brick courses of the chimney stack, this will provide plenty of support for our new TV aerial install.  We took down our customer’s broken old aerial and re-lashed their chimney stack and fitted our large chimney cradle ready to receive the aerial.

We fitted a Fracarro w/b log-periodic TV aerial to the 2” 6ft mast and neatly taped down the aerial coax cable, appearance is everything!  We took the aerial and spectrum analyser up again to the chimney and dropped the aerial mast into the brackets of the chimney cradle; we plugged the aerial into our spectrum and aligned our customer’s new TV aerial.  We were both happy with the readings of the spectrum analyser; a good strong signal equals happy customers.  With the aerial now up all we need to do was connect our signal to our customer’s house.  Once we had our signal in our customer’s loft we connected their cable and checked the TV point with our meter.  Happy with the signal we changed our customer’s coax plug and re-tuned their TV.

It doesn’t look it in the attached picture but it was bitterly cold that morning, once your gloves are wet and it is cold we couldn’t feel our fingers!  Our customer had called us as their aerial was falling down and in need of putting up again. When we arrived I looked at the single chimney cradle supporting the mast with a TV aerial, FM aerial, D.A.B aerial and a satellite dish, no wonder it was falling over!  We decided to provide another large chimney cradle to strengthen the aerial mast and system, only problem was our customer’s large chimney stack as it was enormous!

At last a day without rain!  There are some jobs you’re always particularly proud of and this one is one of those.  When we arrived our customer’s chimney stack had been re-built as it and the aerial had been seriously damaged in the recent storms.  The builder had taken down the top half of the chimney stack and re-built it, when we arrived we decided to use to large chimney cradles and 2 lashing kits at the bottom of the chimney stack and not touch the newly built top.  With the large chimney cradles spread their self’s over 5 brick courses in total they took up 10 brick courses of the chimney stack providing excellent support  to the light weight Fracarro log-periodic new aerial.

Saturday afternoon and we are off to Ingatestone for a flat screen TV wall mounting call, when we arrived we soon discovered the property had been used as an office and the partitioning wall was not of plasterboard and not too strong to say the least.  As we embrace the challenges our varied work throws at us, we thought an Antiference UT65 Flat screen TV wall mounting bracket would provide the support required to hang the TV.  The Antiference UT65 has a large footprint and covers a large area of the wall, and has a lot of fixing points so the weight and load of the TV is spread across the wall, ensuring the TV stays where it is fitted securely.

New Tv Aerial Installation Chelmsford Essex Www.andysaerials.com1st call Tuesday and its for New TV Aerial Installation Chelmsford Essex, when I arrived I was incredibly please to see the 3storie house had a lovely gable end looking bare without an aerial.  I chatted to my customers and they wanted 2 tv points and possibly a 3rd in the future.  We disused fitting an aerial to the gable end of their house and pointed out the height should give a good digital signal.  With the price agreed I took my ladders off of my van and set them up at the gable end of the house.  I wanted to provide a good solid support for their TV aerial so I decided to fix T&K wall brackets on the wall giving outstanding support for the aerial installation for years and years to come.  The T&K wall brackets have 5 fixing points, I marked the top K and with my bosh 24v drill I drilled 3 10mm holes 6 brick courses down from the apex of the gable end, the 6 brick courses are needed to give support to the brackets, I often laugh when I see an aerial installation where the bracket has been fitted at the very top and having no support of the wall at all.  As I intended to use a log-periodic w/b aerial which has no deflector plates and is a light weight head I had no need to space out the brackets too much, so I marked the brickwork once more for the T bracket and again drilled 2 neat 10mm holes for the fixing of the wall bracket.

Monday morning and my 1st call of the day is a New Aerial Installation Billericay Essex.  I looked at my customer’s signal problems and they had already decided a new aerial installation was needed, the property did not have a chimney stack and other fixing options were not the best.  I decided to take a test aerial into my customer’s loft and take some test readings to see if I could receive a good signal, I must admit I was pleasantly surprized with both the signal strength and quality of the incoming digital mux’s.  I asked my customers if they were happy for me to install a new aerial in their loft and they were.  I fixed a small 1” ¼ loft pole to one of the cross beams where I had taken my signal readings, and decided best location for signal quality.  My new Dewalt impact driver made easy work of driving in the fixing screws,I secured a Fracarro Log-periodic to the loft pole and using wf100 low loss cable wired the new aerial ready for alignment.New Aerial Installation Billericay Essex Www.andysaerials.com

I was extremely happy with the signal readings and further to my delight there was a 240v socket in my customer’s loft perfect for my distribution amp.  I went back to my van and selected a 6way distribution amp and returned back to the loft to fit it.  I stapled the aerial coax cable down running it neatly to the distribution amp and fitted the F, connector to connect to the amp.  I tested all 6 outlets to check I did not have any problems and then headed back to my van for my ladders to run the new aerial cables to my customer’s points.  The back garden was absolutely sodden and I squelched across my customer’s lawn with my ladders to access the end of the house where I need to run a new cable.  I got my new cable into the loft easily and started tacking it down until I reached the drainpipe which I used to get the cable to the ground without being seen.  My new cable entered my customer’s kitchen and under their kitchen cupboards again not in sight, hidden by the cupboards.  The last leg was into my customer’s extension and into their Humax DVR.

After sorting some of my pictures, I came across this one, and thought what a smashing picture and how long before summer arrives here with its lovely warmth and light and long days.  I think the picture was taken in Chelmsford where we fitted a new TV aerial and satellite dish.  The dish had to be high up the mast due to a large tree blocking the satellite signal, so on my sturdy 1” ½ alloy mast it was. Looking at the picture I can see the chimney stack was big enough to accommodate the large 5 brick course chimney cradle, which gives heavy duty support to the aerial for years and years to come.  Cheap isn’t the best way forward and in the long term spending a few extra quid on heavy duty bracket pays dividends as the aerial stay where it is fitted and with stands our weather.  A lot of aerial company’s still use the cheap and cheerful 6” chimney cradle which only takes up 2 brick courses of the chimney stack and with a 6ft steel pole fitted with an aerial at the top acting as a weight and the pole acting as a lever, it is guaranteed to damage the chimney stack as time goes on wearing the bricks away until the aerial comes down.  Which is why I choose to use heavy duty brackets and know I have done everything I can for my customers?

I always use aluminium masts for 3 reasons:  1) they look nicer than steel, and they become a part of our customer’s properties.  2) Aluminium mast are lighter in weight and minimise weight to the chimney cradle and chimney stack.  3) Aluminium masts are lighter for us to carry up to the roof, why would we use anything else?  The aerial in the picture is a Fracarro Log-Periodic w/b aerial which is my favourite choice of Aerials, as its construction and performance is fantastic!

 The above information is one of the many reasons I choose to use Fracarro Log-periodic aerial, all aerials have a set gain and they all have dips, the Fracarro has a good constant gain, which in my opinion is a great aerial for my customers, and with its superior waterproofing we happy to guarantee it for 5years.

We still come across some of our customers who believe they need and ultra-high gain aerial and insist on having a monster put up when they are in a good signal area; too much signal can be as much of a pain as to little.  If the signal requires a little lift a masthead pre-amp is our choice rather than heading down the 16ft 2” mast for height and an ultra-high gain aerial, but every engineer has different methods of getting signal.
