1st job Saturday morning new aerial installation Chelmsford Essex a very cold morning but dry. Our customer was a smashing chap and provided us with hot tea and biscuits ( diet still not doing too well!) Lovely roof to walk on and a nice square chimney stack. We fitted a 13″ 5 brick course chimney bracket and large u bolts, with the chimney stack being small it was easy to lash.

We used a Blake DMX10 w/b ultra high gain aerial which received a good digital signal all mux’s were balanced well. We attached the Blake aerial to an eight foot inch and a half alloy mast and once electronically aligned and had meter readings I decided to fit a mast head pre-amp to ensure plenty of signal to all 4 TV’s.
The Televe’s mast head pre-amp is variable gain ie: 29db with the ability to attenuate by 15db and has a noise figure of 2.5db so with the spectrum analyzer I am able to raise the signal strength and keep an eye on the noise ration, and settled for 50db with virtually no noise.

I cabled the aerial coax down the roof slipped a tile and fed in to loft leaving a rain loop for the rain. The previous aerial cable had been routed under the lead of the chimney stack and was an odd way of getting the cable into the loft, I lifted the lead and pushed the old cable through and made good the lead as it was messy and decided to run some silicon sealer around it as it didn’t look to waterproof to me. I told my customer what I had done and he informed me he had a lead and kept trying to repair it from the inside, fingers crossed his leak is fixed now.

More tea and biscuits and in to the loft where I took out his 4 way distribution unit and fitted a professional Antiference 6way pro amp which has a 12v output to power the mast head pre-amp
We changed over his coax ends from coax to f stapled our cable down and loft finished. I replaced the kitchen fly lead and metered the kitchen and sitting room to check for signal loss and they were both good, then re-tuned 3 TV’s. With an hacksaw I cut up his old aerial and aerial pole in to small pieces which all fitted into the nice box the Blake DMX10 came in and that was us finished in Chelmsford next job Bishop Stortford Hertfordshire.
