My favorite work…..
A new aerial install at Hutton Brentwood Essex I struggle putting up an aerial with the limited room on the stack and then the neighbor asks if he can have an aerial too, to which we always reply yes!

This roof was a little tricky to get on to as it was fully hipped and a little challenging to get to the chimney stack. Only to find once there the top of the chimney was collapsing, the neighbours chimney pots had dropped and bricks his side were due to fall ( straight down on his car beneath).

We carry an assortment of brackets ranging from 6″ to 24″ various shapes and designs, so I managed to fit a 12″ low down and lashed it knowing the lower courses of bricks would be a good secure and strong fix and would not damage the chimney stack any further.

We needed to install 4 aerial points so I opted for the Blake DMX10 w/b ultra high gain digital aerial knowing it would provide the best signal both in quality and strength. We attached the Blake to a 7ft 1″ 1/2 alloy mast good and strong but not too high to cause a whip and stress the chimney bracket. If you can see in the picture there was a loft conversion so I was not able to run the cables through the loft as there wasn’t one. I taped the cables together in electrical tape where it went over the hip of the roof to protect my cables against chaffing and early wear. Once my cables were on the downward side of the roof I pinned them every 3rd tile with cut-up lashing wire keeping them together, straight and neat.

Our Customer’s was an incredibly nice couple who very generously kept providing us with tea and even shared their Fox’s Christmas biscuits with us ( I am dieting as I have gained a little holiday weight), which we enjoyed.
All work finished including the neighbor’s aerial a Blake DMX5 w/b to one point finished slightly over our estimated time scale but delighted customers all round!
