Saturday morning and our 1 call of the day is for a TV aerial installation Chelmsford, we arrived a little early as we had a lot on that Saturday, and wanted to get everything done as we do not like running late and letting our customer’s down. We chatted with our customer and spotted an issue in getting a new TV aerial cable to their sitting room due to the location of their TV. Our customer wanted us to use the old aerial cable and not worry about running a new cable. I agreed and took the time to explain to them their future options if the cable died and had to be replaced.

As you can see from the picture it was a lovely clear day with very little clouds in the sky, we had to be respectful of our customer’s neighbour’s early ish on a Saturday morning as not everyone has to get up. We quietly got our ladders off of our van and walked them to our customer’s house where we climbed up to the roof. We decided as we were not replacing the aerial cable we would use 2 chimney cradles and 2 lashing kits making the aerial installation incredibly strong. We took some signal readings with our meter and there were plenty of digital signals so we used one of our discreet log-periodic w/b aerials as we knew it would perform well and we think they look rather nice too.

We lashed the chimney stack and fitted our chimney cradles and dropped the aerial into position and electronically aligned the aerial. We ran our aerial cable down the chimney stack and cut it with 4ft ish past the chimney’s lead flashing, where we connected it to our customer’s aerial cable using f’ connectors and joiners. We generously covered the join with self-amalgamating tape and then neatly put the join under the lead flashing keeping the join dry and out of sight. We had good signal strength and quality reading, all we had left to do was check the signal readings at the end of our customer’s cable and hopefully their cable would be good and carry the signal to their TV.

Perfect our customer’s cable was ok and the result was great pictures on their TV. We could now take down our ladders and pack away. Our customers were delighted with their pictures; we wrote our bill and set off to our next call.
