Friday 2nd call and I’m off to Hornchurch for a satellite install. When I arrived there was a huge problem in the name of a tree, right in front of the house. My customer had his dish moved twice already and was tired of losing channels and pixelating pictures. I suggested a new dish on their chimney stack, giving a good line of sight and lovely pictures. The roof was a little tricky and decided to use my roof climber, once on the roof I could clearly see a position for the satellite on the chimney stack which would miss the problem tree.

I went back down to my van and put together a zone 1 Sky dish and fitted a quod L.N.B. Putting my satellite meter in my tool pouch I took the dish up the roof and fixed the bracket to the chimney stack. Happy with my fixing I connected the satellite dish to its bracket and connected my meter to find Sky’s satellite. With the dish locked on at 80% I adjusted the dish for horizontal and vertical adjustment for best picture quality

My customer required 2 twin (shotgun) cable runs from the dish, one run to the front bedroom and the other to the main sitting room below. I neatly put both cables together and with a cut up lashing wire I secured the cables to the roof by lifting a tile slightly and placing the lashing wire over the cables and under the roof tile. When I reached the guttering I climbed down and put my roof climber back on my van. I moved my main ladders to the drain pipe where the satellite cable was and very carefully fed the cables under the guttering and down the drain pipe. On spurred off into the bedroom and the other carried on to the floor where I drilled a 14mm. I carefully put the cable through the hole leaving a nice rain loop the sealed both holes with clear mastic.

I connected the boxes and admired my signal strength and quality on the Sky box. I wrote my bill to my extremely pleased customers and set off to my next call.
