Satellite Dish Installation
Still summer and were now enjoying sunny days but much cooler, perfect weather for a satellite dish installation. My customer’s had enormous difficulties in getting Sky; other companies had told them a satellite signal was not possible including Sky’s own engineers. The last Sky engineer gave my new customer’s my telephone number and recommended me as he knew I had succeeded in the past installing a satellite dish and getting a good signal where he thought was not possible. The house was a listed building and due to restrictions with the grade listed building a dish could not be fitted to the house, the garden was full of trees and the garden rose high making a satellite signal extremely difficult.
Satellite Dish Installation
I found a spot where I thought signal may be possible but the cable run back to the house was just over the limits of the Sky box being able to power the L.N.B and functioning properly. I fitted a Sky Zone one dish and got a lock but the signal strength was weak and the percentage of the horizontal and vertical signal quality was not acceptable. Carrying most items on our vans I went a fetched a Sky zone two dish, a 60cm dish much bigger than the zone one used for further north up the country as the satellite’s footprint gets weaker the further north you go. Ideal for this situation as I needed as much signal as I could possibly receive, I assembled the 60cm satellite dish and attached it to my customer’s aerial which was on an out building in their garden. I was absolutely delighted with the signal strength and quality my meter was displaying; my next issue would be the extremely long cable runs and loss of signal due the length of the run.

Fortunately I carry 20db satellite inline amp which are powered by the Sky box, simply attach one per cable, preferable way, to give the satellite signal a kick back to the box ensuring a good signal and happy customers. Once I had brought the twin cable in to the sitting room it was a case of setting up the new HD box and having a look at the signal strength and quality displayed by the Sky box, which is in services then settings and then signal. Perfect both the strength and quality of both line one and line two were absolutely perfect. All I had to now was run a 2nd twin cable to a second Sky box on a mirrored subscription and my job was done. I was absolutely delighted with my efforts and pleased my customers could now enjoy Sky
