Like a lot of homes in Ingatestone my customer had his piped signal turned off and was in need of a new TV aerial, their home was a 3 story and the height was great for me to achieve a good digital signal. We walked our ladders around to the back of the property and extended them to reach the top, where I decided to use a 12” wall bracket and cut an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast down to 5ft to ensure extra strength and keep our TV aerial looking as neat as possible.

I marked the brickwork 6 courses down from the lower roof ensuring a good strong fix, then made up a Blake DMX5 w/b aerial as with the height the DMX5 should perform perfectly. My customer wanted 2 points and an existing cable connecting to the new aerial system. So I used a 2way mast head with a variable gain of 10db and as the asked one cable entered the 3rd floor bedroom then using a 2way power supply unit ran a 2nd cable to the adjoining bedroom.

From the 2way mast head I ran a short cable down the wall and connected their existing cable to mine using f’ connectors and f’ barrels to join. Once together I covered the join in amalgamating tape to ensure it was 100% waterproof. Happy with the cabling I went inside to staple the internal cables and fit coax plugs to the ends.

One of the TV’s needed a free-view box to be fitted which my customer was purchasing later that day, but the master bedroom had a fantastic L.E.D TV mounted to the wall so I could get my cable to the TV and re-tune it and take a look at the pictures. My customer was delighted and we cleared up and packed away. Once we had written the bill we set off for Danbury and then Stock Chelmsford. With the sun still shining we just knew we were in for a lovely day.
