New TV aerial Chelmsford Essex www.andysaerials.com
Well 1st call Monday morning and were off to Chelmsford for a new TV aerial installation. When we arrive our customer met us and opened the car park so we could park our van, we walked up the tow path and reached the boat which required the new TV aerial. The boat already had a TV aerial and received some of the digital TV channels, which was pretty amazing considering the TV aerial was mounted very low and facing the wrong way.

I took my spectrum analyser aboard and took a look what the original TV aerial was doing and how much signal it was bringing in. My 1st thoughts were free-sat, only the bridge would have blocked the satellite signal. We took a leisurely stroll back down the tow path enjoying the wildlife and looking for otters. When we arrived back at the van we got out a 12ft 2” alloy mast and a log-periodic w/b aerial as the log is light weight and would draw in enough signal to work with and amp. I took an assortment of masthead pre-amps and a 12v 100m/a remote power supply unit and set off again down the tow path to the boat.

We had already decided on a fixing point and needed it to be detachable for when the boat went out for a cruise down the river. We took some readings with the log and strangely enough the log was good on 5 of the digital mux’s and the 6th was a gamble. I relayed this information to my customer who was more than happy to go ahead. We fixed the aerial mast to the boat and fitted a 25db masthead pre-amp on the mast, powering the masthead we aligned the new TV aerial to Anglia Sudbury and was quite pleased with the results. We ran the cable loosely across the roof of the boat and fitted an f` plug join just inside to be easily disconnected as and when the boat wanted to go for a ride, the new TV aerial could be easily left on the tow path. We re-tuned our customer’s TV and looked at our pictures which of course were fantastic! As always our customer was delighted with our work and their pictures. Next call is Brentwood Essex.
