Last call Saturday afternoon and it’s a new TV aerial Chelmsford Essex CM1, couldn’t have asked for better weather, the sun was shining and we were in a south facing garden and the sun was beaming down, Happy people all round. I had been over to quote this job the previous Tuesday evening and met my customer. As it was fairly late in the evening there wasn’t good light to survey the property but could answer all my customer’s questions and get an idea what they wanted. I had originally stated I would use T&K wall brackets and fix the aerial on the rear of the house and run 2 new TV points.

When we arrive and I took a long look at the property for fixing an aerial, I decided an eighteen inch wall bracket tucked up the corner brickwork by the drainpipe would look far neater than T&k wall brackets between the windows. I asked my customer if it would be ok to use the 18” wall bracket and put the aerial near the drainpipe, and they thought it would look tidier too. So off with the ladders and get set up at the rear of the property.

I took up the bracket, drill and fixings and marked the brickwork where I needed to drill for my four fixing holes for the bracket. The brickwork was very good and I got a good strong fixing for my wall bracket. I tightened the bolts up with my socket wrench as I like to tighten them by hand and know they are good and tight, as opposed to using the drill which hammers the bolts in fast and hard, and you can easily spin them.

Again I opted for one of my Facarro log-period w/b aerials and signal was good but the strength needed rising slightly. Anglia was a no go with the top 2 digital mux’s weaker than the bottom 4, so I decided to go with London as all 6 digital mux’s were 35db each. I fitted a variable gain 4way mast head and set it up with my spectrum analyser lowering the noise and finishing up with 50db on all 6 digital mux’s.

I fitted the 4way mast head to the drain pipe as it was black in colour as the masthead and hid it rather well. With the masthead sited and fixed we ran 2 cables down the back of the drain pipe and into the house discreetly and neatly. My customer was over the moon with the lack of visible cables and fantastic pictures.
