Saturday 2nd February 2013 very cold morning and were off for a new aerial installation Roxwell Chelmsford, we arrived on time and quickly decided it was hat weather!  I knocked the door and met my customer who instantly asked if I would like a hot cup of tea, yes please!  I went out the back garden and stood on their patio and looked at fixings for installing their new aerial and decided the rear garden would be the best position to site the aerial.

We agreed a price and I set about getting all the necessary kit ready to go through my customer’s house not wanting to go back and forth letting all the heat from their house escape.  I carry a cut-down double section of ladders which is just the right length to carry through a house with turns in, front porch etc., after carrying my ladders through the house I took my drill, fixings, 10ft 1” ½ alloy mast, a pair of T&K wall brackets (small) a Blake DMX10 w/b aerial and my meter.

Once in the garden I quickly discovered my cut down ladders would only just get me to the height I wanted to fix my T&K brackets, I always fit my brackets 6 brick courses down from the top so there is some weight on the top bracket for support and not to damage the property.  With my ladders not quite high enough I settled for 7 brick courses down form the top and believed I would get a good signal from the new aerial.  I drilled and fixed the top T&K checked it with my spirit level and then lined the other bracket beneath with my spirit level as they have to be right!

We made up the Black DMX10 w/b aerial and fixed it to the 10ft 1” ½ alloy mast and by now the sun was shining and the cold was disappearing quickly which was lovely.  Our customer kept bringing us tea (proper tea strong and perfect) which kept us warm while the wind was so cold.  With the new aerial assembled and ready to drop in the T&K wall brackets I decided that as my cut-down ladders only just got the top bracket in, I would never get the height to drop the Blake safely into the top bracket, so decided to send my no1 through the house and get the main ladders off the van and climb the roof at the front of the house where I could pass the aerial to him and he could safely lower the aerial through the bracket, which he done and made the whole job easy and safe.

With the aerial now in the brackets I could take a look at the signal and see what I had, London was not too clever at all, strong signal but carrying a lot of noise.  Anglia was no go but Sandy Heath was my winner, I chatted to my customer who was happy for us to align the aerial to Sandy Heath giving the best digital signal.

After securing the aerial we tacked down the aerial coax cable and brought the cable into the house, I fitted a face plate and my customer tuned the TV and as always smiles all around happy customers and a happy Andy.New Aerial Installation Roxwell Chelmsford Www.andysaerials.com
