It was a cold morning at -4c and the roof was icy, but wrapped up I can’t say I felt the cold too much. I received a quote request off of my website for a new aerial installation Billericay Essex last week and I telephoned the customer and arranged a convenient time to call and have a look at what needed to be done and give a quote for the new aerial installation.

The roof was perfect to climb as it had a nice gradient and my favourite tiles. I originally thought I would have needed a Blake DMX10w/b aerial judging by the surrounding aerials all ultra-high gain, but I took a meter reading using my spectrum analyzer and to my surprize the London signal was very good coming in at 40db on all six mux’s. I lashed the chimney stack with a large 13” 5 brick course chimney cradle and mounted the Blake DMX5 w/b aerial on an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast and once aligned I ran the cable into the loft a couple of tiles down from the chimney stack. On inspection of the customer’s cable for the roof to one of their points I could see the cable had perished and cracked where the sunlight of summer and the frost of winter over the years had destroyed the cable. So another cable run required.
I fitted an Antiference 6way pro-amp in the customer’s loft which was a perfect loft to work in, large, clutter free very well lit perfect and a double power point! The 6way Antiference pro-amp was secured to one of the wooden beams in the loft and plugged in at the double power point below, now I could staple all the aerial coax leads to all the points on the rafters keeping them off the floor and keeping the runs neat. All new aerial installations should look as neat as this one in Billericay Essex.

Drilling outside into the loft I ran a cable to my customer’s office and extremely carefully drilling inside out from the office I managed to drill a perfect hole in my customer’s brick work without blowing the brick face. My customer had mentioned that an aerial company had run a cable a couple of years ago and made a right pigs ear of it and they hated the blown brick, so I luckily managed to drill the perfect hole, part experience part luck!

The 2nd point in the sitting room needed replacing so once I had replaced that cable I replaced the aerial face plate in the wall as the old one was looking a little worn. I re-tuned the Panasonic TV getting 10/10 signal quality with all the channels as the Panasonic TV was being re-tuned. The Humax PVR as always had issues and did not want to use the HD channels but once I retuned again removing the aerial lead after CH30 so it could not put any more channels in from other transmitter it was fine, but Humax seems to have issues.
