Tuesday 23rd of April and it’s a heat wave! I had been over quote this job last week and couldn’t have wished for a better day. We had a new aerial to install with 4 points and the sunshine made the work soooooooo pleasurable. We started by extending our ladders high to the extremely high roof which was absolutely lovely. The roof had a wall all the way around the roof edge, with a flat centre and a flat outside edge, which we could walk around to admire the fantastic views 360degrees.

Seeing the size and height of the chimney stack, I went back down again to get my smaller ladders to be able to reach the top of the chimney stack, and of course the only way for my other ladders to get up there is to carry them up my main set. Once on the roof I lashed the chimney stack with my favoured large, 5 brick course chimney cradle and had a lot of fun getting the 5 corner brackets.

With the chimney now ready to receive my aerial I wired up a Facarro log-periodic to take some signal readings, I could have a look at which one would be best and which parts to use, 6way mast head 4way combined inductive low loss splitter etc. As it happens I received a 6digital mux’s all at 55db, which is perfect for my 4 TV points. The 4way splitter is a set loss of 7.5db so take 7.5 from the 55db of signal I have =47.5db per leg to each point.

No power unit to be fitted anywhere just neat and tidy cable runs to do. 3 of the points were down one wall face so we tacked two down as an anchor (clips locking) and using brown cable ties we cable tied the 3rd on top, keeping one neat straight line down the wall of the house. The first to break from the straight line was a bedroom and we only had to run it a couple of fee before it entered the house. The remaining 2nd and 3rd continued to the floor where one went into the sitting room and the other was read for the builders who were going to build a conservatory.

The 4th and last cable went across the roof and followed another chimney stack down the side wall of the house and went into a room beside it. With such a neat job completed we sat and chilled in the sunshine and complained we were sun burnt!
