We had been to quote this job last week and our customer wanted Free-View instead of Sky, we looked at all possibility’s and disused where the TV points could go and where the cables would go. When we arrived we took down the old aerial and neatly fixed a small pair of T&K wall brackets the end gable of the house. Securing a Facarro log-periodic w/b aerial on to an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast I dropped the aerial and mast into the T&K wall brackets ready to take some signal readings to see which way we were going to go with the aerial installation.

I was very happy with the Anglian signal coming in at 40db; the London wasn’t as good and decided Anglia was our winner! I balanced all the digital mux’s and locked the mast to the T&K’s happy with my signal. I went to my van and got a 6way variable gain masthead and connected it to the aerial mast. With my spectrum powering the 6way mast head I turned down the power until I was happy with the lovely digital signal.

Our first 3 cable runs/points were from the gable side of the house and with 2 down pipes we were able to run our 1st 2 cables without being seen, completely hidden by the drainpipe excellent. The 3rd was the bedroom on the gable end side so it was a nice neat cable run down from the aerial to the 1st floor bedroom, with a neat and straight cable it was not at eye level and you had to look up to see it lovely.

We were lucky with the front bedroom as the house stepped out from the next house, so we were able to pin the aerial cable across the roof, and then down a side drain pipe and entering the bedroom on the side. If you walked up the path to the house no cables were visible perfect!

The last bedroom was challenging! There was a beautiful conservatory beneath preventing us from getting our ladders to the bedroom. After much discussion we decided to take the cable in through the roof and then through the ceiling to the wall mounted TV. Using white cable and stapling the cable it went unnoticed and delivered a fantastic digital signal. After tuning and setting up the TV’s we cleared up and packed away, and was thankful it was our last job.
