This morning’s 2nd call was a new aerial installation Billericay Essex, due to wind damage, my customer’s aerial had fallen off their chimney stack, and was dangling by the coax cable on his roof luckily no tiles were broken where the aerial struck the roof. The aerial was a Blake DMX10 A group which had survived the fall had a bent deflector plate but otherwise ok. Had it of been a wide band I may of re-used the aerial as I had spare deflector plates on my van, but if Crystal Palace start transmitting channels above ch35 in the future, say more HD channels, my customer would have a limited aerial and paying for a new chimney cradle, lashing kit and an eight foot pole it made better sense to have a new aerial form me which also keeps the 5 year guarantee clear.
Had I of used my customer’s aerial my guarantee would have stopped at the furniture of the chimney stack, and for a little more money they now have a Blake DMX10 wide band aerial with a 5 year guarantee perfect. It was still extremely windy while I was lashing the chimney stack and I just love the wind, never forget to secure your ladders in extreme wind as you will find yourself on a roof without a ladder!

Once I had climbed back up to the stack with my meter and new aerial I was extremely pleased with the quality and strength of the signal, all six mux’s came in at 45db lovely jubly. I ran my aerial coax cable down the side of the chimney cradle and tacked it to the brickwork of the chimney stack and joined my cable to my customer’ cable as it was new and ht100 which is copper on copper on copper (expensive!) I made a join using 2 f plugs and a 181 a female barrel for f plugs. Once joined I sealed the join with amalgamating tape which is latex and sticky on both sides, as you wind the tape over and over it’s self it becomes 100% waterproof. I believe car mechanics have used amalgamating tape for a temporary repair on split radiator hoses of a broken down vehicle to get the drive home or to a garage.

After joining the cables together I climbed back down to the floor cleared up and packed away my ladders and wrote my bill. Another happy customer of andysaerials.com Next call Hornchurch.
