Aerial Installer Ingatestone Essex
Another glorious sunny day and our next call we are off to be an aerial installer Ingatestone Essex, my home village. When we arrived I looked at my customer’s roof and spotted a chimney stack on the top and another one much lower down the roof, with an extremely old Yagi aerial on falling to bits, and looking like it had been there over 40yrs. Once I had my ladders in place I climbed up my customer’s roof to inspect the higher chimney stack as being higher it would get a better signal, but unfortunately the dormer extension had been built right up to it and no way could it be lashed. I made my way back down the roof to the lower chimney stack and cut down the old Yagi aerial and took it down with me. I out a log-periodic w/b aerial on an 8ft mast and didn’t tape it down, I just wanted to check my signals before lashing the lower chimney stack as I might be struggling for signal.

I was rather happy with the signal the log brought in, all digital mux’s were nice and I was happy to get the chimney lashed. I used my favourite large heavy duty chimney bracket to accommodate the 1” ½ alloy mast, the cradle itself takes up 5 brick coursed of the chimney stack giving plenty of support for the aerial for years and years to come. With the chimney stack now lashed I went back down to my van to re-cable the log-periodic as I had used a short piece of aerial coax cable to take some test readings for signal, this time I taped the aerial coax cable down the 8ft mast and cut off the cable at the required length where I was going to in my customer’s loft. I took the aerial up and dropped it into the large chimney cradle and with my spectrum analyser I aligned the aerial to Crystal Palace, happy with the signal strength and quality I tightened the large U bolts and tacked the cable neatly down the chimney stack.

In the loft there was an electrical power point, so I ran the aerial lead to there and fitted an Antiference 6way pro amp, which is a fantastic amp and its 8db gain on each leg was perfect for my aerial signal. I changed my customer’s connections from coax to f and connected them to the new 6way amp. I took my spectrum analyser around to each point and tested my customer’s cables were ok, which they were. I packed away and tided up, and then wrote out my bill. That was my last job and I did not have far to go perfect!
