Aerial Installer Essex
If you think it’s been hot you don’t want to be working on a roof, the temperatures are too hot for an aerial installer in Essex. We need to install an aerial and fit a zone 1 Sky mine dish for our customer earlier this week and we can’t say we wanted to install aerials or dishes in the scorching hot weather, however like everyone else we need to work, so after taking some test reading with our test aerial we were happy to put up a log w/b aerial and as there was no chimney we had no choice other than to choose T&K wall bracket as we intended siting the satellite dish on the aerial mast too.

Fortunately our customer was aware of the debilitating heat and they kept us with a good supply of cold drinks. We soon had the ladders in place and fixed the T&K wall brackets to the gable end of the property, wanting good support and strength we used an 8ft 1 ½ “ alloy mast as we need to support a satellite dish too. The log performed well but was in need of amplification due to the top mux’s of the Anglia signal being weak, using a Televe`s variable gain masthead pre-amp we soon had a fantastic signal which was great as we needed to get out of the sunlight and head and take 5. We assembled a zone 1 mini dish and using a pole mount we attached the mini dish to the aerial mast. The line of direction meant the roof edge shaded the dish slightly, but the meter told us we had good signal strength and a good signal quality.

We ran 2 twin cable runs, one from the quod L.N.B to the sitting room and one from the aerial to the sitting room, using the second cable of the twin cable for a return to the loft for distributing the digital aerial signal and distributing the Sky signal around the house. We installed and infrared digital amp so our customer could use Sky eyes around the house to remote control their sky+ HD box from any room of the house, which is added value if you are paying a subscription to Sky. We were very happy with our digital signal and thankfully the Sky signal carried well too, our customer was extremely pleased with our picture qualities. We slowly packed up and cleared away now soaked in sweat and extremely hot, lifting ladder after hard graft in such heat is an effort in its self, we were keen to get the van running and enjoy the marvellous invention of air-con! Well done whoever invented that.
