Aerial Install Chelmsford

Nice warm day and were off to Chelmsford for an aerial install, when we arrive we had a couple of choices of chimney stacks to choose from, they were both in good order and we decide to use the 1st one due to location of points to be installed.  After taking some test readings with our test aerial before the aerial install we decided to use a w/b log-periodic as the signal strength and quality was good.  Our customer want a FeeeSat satellite dish fitting too, so we decide to use 2 9” chimney brackets and 2 lashing kits ensuring years of support for both the aerial and FreeSat satellite dish.  The chimney was lovely to lash as it was solid brick and square, sometimes you can double lash a chimney and the 2 chimney brackets never line up, but thumbs up to the bricki who built this lovely stack as it is perfectly square.

We used an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast and fixed the log periodic w/b aerial on and taped the top half, we electronically aligned the aerial using our spectrum analyser and was very happy with the signal readings.  With the aerial aligned we tightened the aerial mast and assembled a FreeSat satellite dish.  We used a satellite pole bracket to fix the dish to the aerial mast and once in place we aligned the FreeSat satellite dish and were extremely happy with the signal strength and quality of the signal, the satellite dish was mounted high and had an excellent line of sight.

Our customer wanted an Octo L.N.B fitting as they may want more rooms to be fitted with FreeSat at a later date, so we fitted the Octo and ran all the cables into the loft ready for future cable runs.  You can see from the picture in this blog just how neat our cable runs are and we have to say we are incredibly proud of running cables neatly and discreetly.  With the satellite cables and aerial cable now in the loft all we have to do is discreetly run a twin satellite cable and a single aerial cable to the sitting room.  We tacked down the twin satellite cable and tacked it every 5 brick courses and then ran the aerial cable on the top leaving just one straight neat line.  Once we had the cables into the sitting room we fitted f’ plugs to the FreeSat leads and an aerial coax plug on the aerial cable and tuned in our customer’s equipment and demonstrated it to them.  As always Andy’s Aerials customers were delighted and extremely happy with our work.  If a job is worth doing, do it well!
