Saturday afternoon and what a dream… New TV Aerial Chelmsford Essex with scaffolding up and around the chimney stack! We had been to our customer’s property a couple of weeks before and cut down the old aerial read for the master builder to re-build the chimney stack. I say master builder as I was extremely impressed with the quality of the finish perfect 10/10. We strolled up the scaffolding and sat admiring the views comfortably from the scaffolding platform, no hurry at all we lashed the chimney stack with one of our heavy duty chimney cradles, as you can see from the picture attached it covers 5 brick courses of the chimney stack providing heavy duty support for our new TV aerial for years and years to come, which we think is the way forward for our customers.

We took some signal readings with our test aerial and the London signal was weak and the Anglia signal was not balanced, but the better signal of the two to work with. The top 3 digital mux’s were 9db weaker than the lower 3 digital mux’s but we could work with them, we opted for a low value masthead pre-amp to bring in the top digital mux’s and did not raise the bottom 3 enough to be a problem going into our customer’s distribution amplifier. We used a log-periodic aerial, Fracarro which has a patented waterproof seal which the other logs can’t offer. Being a log-periodic it has an equal gain from ch21 to ch68 no climbs and dips making it a great choice for reasonable signal areas, and having no back plates (deflectors) they are soft on the eyes and streamlined minimising the wind catching it and pressuring the aerial mast on the chimney cradle.

We ran new cable down to our customer’s sitting room using wf100 which is copper on copper on copper which is a fantastic low loss cable, but rather pricy. We fitted the remote 12v 100m/a power supply unit behind our customer’s TV and fitted a new fly-lead from the power unit to our customer’s Sky+HD box, and then another fly-lead to our customer’s TV. We re-tuned our customer’s TV and every one was delighted with the picture quality. Now having a perfect digital signal and the analogue signal of the Sky, we ran a return cable to our customer’s loft and connected it to their distribution amp. As always extremely happy customers, delighted with Andy’s Aerials Essex.
