I set off  to Chigwell Essex on Friday 18th January 2013 on an extremely cold morning 5 degrees below freezing, for a Sky dish installation, it was extremely cold.

I had already done a minor repair for my customer and quoted for a sky dish installation for their Son’s bedroom.  Happy with my solution and price they booked me in for first call Friday 18th 9>9:30am, I arrived on time put plenty of layers of cloths on to keep warm and fixed the dish bracket to the south facing wall of the house.  I then made up a Sky mini dish from the back of my van and fitted a quod L.N.B so I could run a twin cable to the mirrored Sky box in the bedroom and have 2 unused ports of the L.N.B , which my customers could use in the future if they wish.

The Sky dish was purposely situated by the drain pipe of the house so I could run the twin satellite cable up it discreetly as there is no need to litter a property with cables.

I ran the twin shot-gun cable around the house’s guttering to the rear bedroom and drilling extremely carefully I once again drilled out without blowing the external render making a neat 10mm hole which could not be seen from the ground.  Once you have felt the drill go through the 2nd brick course you can feel the render if you have taken your time and reduced the speed of the drill, then simply turn off the hammer action of the drill and there you have it a perfect neat hole without ruining the appearance of the house.

You can just about get twin shot-gun cable through a 10mm hole and if you cut down a wall grommet it looks neat on the inside too.  Luckily for me my customer’s Son had a wall mounted TV and his DVD player was above the TV so I drilled high and put the Sky box high with his DVD player so there was no cables visible inside and hardly any cable outside as it only dropped down a foot from the guttering.

Once I connected the Sky box my customer and I removed the large wall mounted TV and connected the Sky box to the TV.  I was happy to be working inside as I was frozen outside fitting the dish and aligning it to Astra.

Another happy customer and back out in the snow to my next job.
