New Sky Dish Chelmsford
We were called to install a new Sky dish Chelmsford last week, and we were delighted to see our aerial we installed some years ago. South (the direction the Sky dish needs to face) was at the front of the house, so we had 4 choices… 1) attach the new Sky dish to the side gable end, which would have worked well, but would not have a completely clear line of sight. 2) Using exhaust clamps attach the New Sky dish, to our already installed TV aerial, which was on a heavy duty 1” ½ alloy mast, and could have happily supported the Sky dish. 3) Drill the stack and fit it to the brickwork, which we try to avoid, as drilling chimney stacks is not a good idea. 4) Install a large heavy duty 13” galvanised chimney cradle, & lashing kit, putting the new Sky dish Chelmsford dish facing south, with the chimney behind it minimising the wind, / future storms blowing the dish from behind.
Obviously we chose option 4 as we only like to install dishes and aerials correctly!
New Sky Dish Chelmsford
We lashed our customer’s chimney stack, and cut off 14inches of an 8ft 1” ½ alloy mast, as we did not want to see any excess mast sticking out of our installation, but we did want the strength and support of the 1” ½ alloy mast, as we like to keep all our installations neat, discreet and heavy duty. We assembled the zone 1 Sky mini dish, and attached the quod L.N.B and already knowing we had a clear line of sight, for the dish we attached our digital, meter and aligned the dish, ensuring the dish was perfectly aligned, and not having too much signal as we do not want to damage our customer’s equipment.

Our customer had a Humax Free-Sat Free-Time recorder, so we need to run a twin cable to it; a twin cable is much neater than 2 singles. One cable / feed for watching the TV, and the 2nd for recording. We ran the twin cable behind the chimney stack, and under the facia boards, so our cable could not be seen and then into our customer’s house. We drilled a 10mm hole carefully not to blow our customer’s brickwork, and with a rain-loop, we brought our twin cable in, and fitted 2 x compressions F’s, to the cable and set-up our customer’s new Humax receiver. We ensured all the settings were correct on the Humax, and flicked through some channels to check everything was working perfectly, the 1080p HD channels looked stunning, our customer was delighted. We cleared up and packed away, ready for our next call another new Sky dish Chelmsford.
